'Say No to Ageism Week'

This took place from 19th-23rd May this year and seeks to promote awareness of ageism and an understanding of how ageism diminishes and excludes older people. It also aims to encourage and support practical action by organisations to develop age-friendly service provision.

Lessons from Case Law (for Clients only)

Award of €60,000 for Age Discrimination

The Complainant in this case submitted that he was discriminated against by the Respondent on grounds of age when he failed to achieve a promotion despite positive performance reviews.

Award of €327,000 for Discrimination on Race Grounds

This dispute concerned a claim by 58 Complainants against the Respondent concerning allegations of discriminatory treatment, discriminatory dismissal, harassment, victimisation and inequality of pay in accordance with the Employment Equality Acts 1998-2007.

We have an employee working a fixed term contract, Monday-Thursday. We give Good Friday as a Company Day and the person has asked to be paid for this - do I have to pay, even though the person is not contracted to work that day?
