Graphite's renowned workshop on the day-to-day practical implications of Irish employment law for managers is again available on a public basis in 2008. Kept continually up-to-date with changes in legislation, case law and best practice, this workshop provides managers with a comprehensive understanding of how to comply with employment law requirements in Ireland. Limited to small numbers, this one-day workshop identifies pragmatic and best practice solutions to people management issues of concern to each group on the given day. The aims of the workshop are as follows:

- Apply the law enabling your organisation to create and maintain a legal and effective work environment.
Session Outline:
The Contract of Employment
The legal requirement for contracts, including protection for part-time,
fixed-term and temporary employees.
Harassment and Bullying in the Workplace
The protection guaranteed by Employment Equality and Health and Safety legislation
and the implications for recruitment, day-to-day management, and dealing
with harassment and bullying behaviours.
Organisation of Working Time
Key points of working time legislation and the practical implications for
managers, with real-life case studies.
Managing Discipline and Grievance
Details of Unfair Dismissals legislation, and the requirement for procedures
and protection of employees' natural rights. Skills are then tested through
group exercises.
Leave of Absence
Statutory and non-statutory leave, including updates on maternity, adoptive,
parental and force majeure leave entitlements.
