This two-day workshop provides delegates with a clear understanding of Competency Based Interviewing Techniques. This workshop is a must for any organisation that uses 1:1 recruitment interviews to assess and select employees. It is a practical workshop which places selection interviewing in the context of the overall recruitment process and equips interviewers with the necessary tools to question and evaluate candidates in a fair and effective way.

Session Outline:

Interviewing in Context
A stepped approach to selection and where interviews fit in. Strengths and weaknesses of interviewing as a selection tool.

Recruitment and the Law
The impact of equality, data protection and freedom of information legislation, and the requirements for fairness and consistency.

Interview Questioning Techniques
How to construct valid interview questions and use behavioural and probing questions to gather accurate and reliable information.

Structured Interviews
Essential elements of a structured interview and techniques to achieve consistency across interviews.

Practicing Interviewing Skills
Interviewing practice through role play, including strategies for dealing with difficult interviewees.
This workshop is also available on an in-house basis, and the content can be customised to take account of the organisation's own Recruitment Process and Procedure.
