Say No to Ageism Week – May '08

‘Say No to Ageism’ week took place from 19th–23rd May this year. It is an initiative developed by the Equality Authority, the National Council on Ageing and Older People and the Health Services Executive and seeks to promote awareness of ageism and an understanding of how ageism diminishes and excludes older people. It also aims to encourage and support practical action by organisations to develop age-friendly service provision.

The Equality Authority and the National Council on Ageing and Older People have an informative booklet on this topic – ‘Towards Age Friendly Provision of Goods and Services’. The booklet and more information on ‘Say No to Ageism Week’ are available on the Equality Authority website (www.equality.ie).

In response to ‘Say No to Ageism Week’ we have included a summary on a recent age discrimination case from the Equality Tribunal. It is included in the ‘Dignity at Work – Equality’ section of the Client Zone on the Graphite website.
